Job Summary:
The Public Area Team Leader is responsible for overseeing and maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and overall presentation of all public spaces within Killington Grand Hotel. This position ensures that cleanliness standards are consistently met across all shifts through active supervision, inspections, and coordination of staff and supplies. The Team Leader serves as a key link between public area attendants and management, providing leadership, accountability, and operational support.
Summary of Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities and essential functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Oversee public area attendants during assigned shifts.
- Coordinate daily tasks and prioritize workload of the team based on occupancy, events, and guest traffic levels.
- Monitor staff performance and ensure adherence to hotel policies and procedures.
- Address performance concerns and report issues to management as needed.
- Conduct routine inspections of all public spaces, including lobbies, restrooms, hallways, elevators, Owner’s Lounge, health club, Owner’s locker room, Arcade, Ski Check, and back-of-house areas.
- Inspect public areas at the end of each shift to ensure standards are met.
- Identify cleanliness or maintenance deficiencies and ensure prompt corrective action.
- Document inspection findings and communicate results to management.
- Ensure public spaces consistently meet established cleanliness standards.
- Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies, paper products, and amenities.
- Place supply orders as needed to maintain stock levels.
- Ensure proper and efficient usage, storage, and cost control of supplies.
- Maintain a professional and welcoming environment for all guests.
- Respond promptly to cleanliness concerns to minimize guest impact.
- Communicate daily operational conditions, staffing issues, and supply needs to Housekeeping Manager or designated leadership.
- Support departmental audits, inspections, and special cleaning projects as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- Previous hotel housekeeping or public area experience required.
- Supervisory or lead experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
- Ability to lead, coach, and hold staff accountable.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, lift, and carry supplies and equipment up to 30 lbs.
- Ability to conduct inspections throughout the property, including stairs and multiple levels.
- Ability to understand and follow standard operating procedures and daily assignment sheets.
- Ability to communicate clearly with guests, vendors, and employees.
- Ability to apply good judgment in routine and unexpected situations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
