JOB SUMMARY

On-the-job trainer is primarily responsible for preparing new hires that come to the production floor to gain the knowledge, skillsets, and performance needed to be successful while he or she is doing the actual job. They will lead and enable a learning environment through strategy and support. This individual will need to be ambitious, organized, highly efficient, and a subject matter expert in that particular area. As an on-the-job trainer, you are the internal mechanism that sets others up for success.

On-the-job trainer will be part of the production team and will be required to build cable harness/CCA assemblies when they are not training other personnel.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Adhere to all KMM safety policies and procedures, as well as manufacturer recommendations on operation of all equipment and tools.
  • Develop a training checklist that enables the trainee to the meet the goals of company and the customer for 100% quality and delivery.
  • Be flexible to train one-on-one and multiple operators at any given time.
  • Responsible for working with team leads, manufacturing supervisors, and engineering, to evaluate training effectiveness and adjust training as necessary to meet those demands.
  • Must be organized and conduct trainings with confidence while keeping the trainees attention.
  • Ability to deliver trainings in multiple formats to meet trainees needs.
  • Develop others by providing feedback and direction laterally.
  • Weekly report out of structured learning experiences and monitor the operator quality and productivity results.
  • Must be comfortable to receive feedback and work in a collaborative environment.
  • Must be self-motivated and can work in a busy environment.
  • Need to be flexible with schedule, your work hours will be based on business needs.
  • (Cables) Produce cable harness assemblies when not training personnel.
  • (CCA's) Produce cable harness assemblies when not training personnel.
  • Ability to problem-solve production issues to improve processes and prevent in the future.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • (CCA's) Maintain production certifications, J-STD-001, IPC-610.
  • (Cables) Maintain production certifications, SI&A, and QID.
  • Assist with LEAN manufacturing by becoming a leader and assisting with the following:
    1. Teach, Coach, Mentor
    2. Serve as facilitator for Lean initiatives in their area​
    3. Help identify process improvement ideas and identify metrics​
    4. Work with KMM Lean Liaisons to compile metrics​
    5. Keep their Liaisons & Practitioners informed on projects ​
    6. Coordinate Lean training for their area
  • Performs other related duties and assignments as required.

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • (CCA's) A minimum of two (2) years production or quality experience in specific area (i.e. soldering, wires, bonding/coating).
  • (Cables) A minimum of two (2) years production or quality experience in specific area (i.e. termination/closing, routing).
  • Productivity and quality must meet Level 2 performance requirements.
  • Requires a very good understanding of specifications, drawings, and tooling.
  • Familiarity with traditional and modern training methods, tools and techniques.
  • Ability to present information to a variety of audiences.
  • Requires good communication and organizational skills and the ability to communicate fluently (verbally and written) in the English language.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite. A great attention to detail, the ability to communicate highly technical information, problem solving skills, and providing solutions are required.
  • Ability to work well with others, and participate in team and cell building environments.
  • Requirements may be modified at the time of the opening, and will be based on current labor availability and staffing needs. In these instances, the employee must be able to meet all requirements within 180 days of accepting the position.

EQUIPMENT AND MACHINERY USED

  • Requires the daily use of a computer and computer related software. Must be able to accurately and proficiently enter and retrieve data as needed for the job tasks.
  • Standard office equipment such as copiers, calculators etc., will be used.
  • (CCA's) This position will require the use of soldering Iron, heat plate; solder pot, crimping tools, retention tools, measuring tools, torque tools, calipers, wire strippers, various hand tools, and various bonding adhesives as needed to perform the daily tasks.
  • (Cables) This position will require the use of crimping tools, retention tools, measuring tools, torque tools, calipers, wire strippers, form boards, tie tables, cut tables, power supplies, automated testing equipment and various hand tools as needed to perform the daily tasks.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Requires the ability to sit, stand, stoop, and bend. There will be prolonged periods of standing.
  • Requires ability to lift objects 1-50 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Ability to read .37M from the Graham-Field vision chart to be able to read component numbers, documents and measurement devices.
  • Ability to see and read colors, as color-coding is used throughout the build process.
  • Ability to enter and retrieve data with accuracy and proficiency into the computer; Physical dexterity and the ability to use hand tools and pneumatic equipment.
  • Ability to read, write, and count accurately to complete documentation; ability to move freely throughout the factory.
