What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teacher/Dyslexia position at Kilgore Middle School?
Primary Purpose:
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned Reading specialist certification and/or training dyslexic students preferred
Training in teaching dyslexic students using the Multi-Sensory Teaching Approach or other appropriate dyslexia training is required
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of 504
Knowledge of special needs students
Knowledge of Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process and Individual Education Plan (IEP) goal setting process and implementation
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to utilize technology and information resources
Knowledge of dyslexia assessment materials
Experience
Student teaching or approved internship
Salary : $45,000 - $65,560
