POSITION OVERVIEW

We are looking for a Human Resources Business Partner, with proven Human Resources experience and a particular passion for turning best-in-class strategies into real world execution. In this role, you will support our NORCAL district, and their business initiatives. Under the direction of an HR Director, you will have the opportunity to make decisions and influence the business with great coaching to get you there. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure HR execution and performance for your organization, a team of 230 Staff and 400 craft employees. You’ll act as a liaison with HR Shared Services teams, to ensure the delivery of support to exceed internal client needs, while leading various projects and initiatives as determined in the annual planning cycle.

DISTRICT OVERVIEW
HR Operations is an integral partner and service provider at Kiewit. In recent years, we have gone from decentralized HR groups to a unified, shared service team, with various HR Centers of Excellence. Our vision is to be a best-in-class international HR organization.
Our Northern California District constructs highways, bridges, dams, water treatment plants, telecommunications, grading, infrastructure and transit work. They also operate precast concrete plants in California and Arizona. Most of our work occurs from Redding to Fresno, California and in northern Nevada. Our staff and craft have expertise in structural, civil, mechanical, foundations and precast work.
LOCATION
This position is located in our district office in Fairfield CA. This is not a remote work opportunity. Relocation is offered for this position.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the organization with both transactional/tactical and strategic functions/actions
- Ability to extract and analyze data to inform leaders and drive business decisions that positively impact the workforce within the organization
- Monitor workforce productivity, retention and engagement for trends and changes that require intervention
- Manage interim wage adjustments as needed – adjustments, title change, hourly to salary conversion, etc.
- Support the development of HR related strategies and ensure implementation and execution
- Ensure coaching, feedback and performance systems are in place to maximize workforce productivity; provide support and guidance on internal transfers and promotions
- Act as a liaison with HR Shared Services to ensure the delivery of support to exceed internal client needs
- Support the execution of performance improvement plans and provide consultation as necessary Consult with managers on effective staff assignments and strategy
- Serve as a change agent by influencing key stakeholders in support of organizational effectiveness
- Serve as liaison for high-risk terminations or separations of employees
- Lead implementation of programs to drive development, employee engagement and retention
- Lead succession planning process by providing sound insight, support and drive execution of employee performance programs and expectations to maximize workforce productivity
- Identify additional learning and development trends based on future workforce needs
- Maintain knowledge of progressive HR practices, trends and data points to drive enhancements
- Development of succession plans and skills gap analysis, ensuring that they are consistently reviewed and that effective actions are in place
- Travel as necessary around the US to project sites and other Kiewit locations up to 20% of the time
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors’ degree in HR or business-related field.
- Minimum of 5 years in a role with similar responsibilities as outlined above in a position where you have executed systems thinking, program execution and process innovation. Experience in Construction or similar environment is required.
- Interest in continuing to develop your career in Human Resources.
- Strong desire to influence best practices and design workforce solutions.
- Ability to travel overnight throughout the US up to 20% of the time.
- Ability to communicate and influence individuals and groups to gain buy-in and acceptance of new ideas and approaches. Proven ability to take initiative and build strong and productive personal relationships with Leaders and employees, displaying sound business acumen and knowledge in the HR field.
- Strong analytical skills, utilizing data to inform and drive business decisions. Experience using analytical software/dashboards, and advanced use of MS Office Suite.
- Detail orientation, agility, and ability to multi-task and rearrange priorities as needed.
- Demonstrated ability to directly execute activities and decisions.

Base Compensation: 125,000 - 145,000
