What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Estimator position at KIER Construction?
GENERAL SUMMARY
The Senior Estimator provides and/or coordinates complete estimating services on large, complex projects and all types of contracts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Essential Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Evaluate and incorporate historical data from subcontracts, purchase orders, productivity analysis reports, etc., into unit and man-hour figures.
· Evaluate project/proposal specifications and drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc., to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
· Provide complete conceptual and/or hard bid estimates on assigned projects.
· Examine estimates of materials, equipment and production costs, performance requirements and delivery schedules to ensure completeness and accuracy.
· Provide technical support to personnel preparing discipline estimates for assigned projects.
· Ensure all working documents and data are maintained to back up estimate calculations.
· Review bids from other firms for conformity to contract requirements and determine acceptable bids.
· Assist the contracting department during the preparation of inquiries and final evaluation of submitted bids as required.
· Establish subcontracts with specialized crafts and acts as a liaison between the subcontractors and Kier Construction.
· Track awarded contracts as required, including estimating/pricing extra work items, change orders, credit, procuring materials, etc.
· Conduct performance evaluations for department personnel.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises multiple non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Construction Management or related field of study
- Experience estimating projects or relevant engineering experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
- Experience supervising people
