KidZone Museum, an interactive children’s museum dedicated to inspiring children and families through play, creativity, and learning, is seeking a Donor Development Manager. The Donor Development Manager is part of ensuring that KidZone has the resources it needs to thrive by building and nurturing relationships with donors, grantors, foundations, and museum members to secure long-term support. The role includes managing donor portfolios, creating stewardship plans, and meeting with donors to secure major gift commitments. The Manager oversees donor data and analysis, coordinates fundraising events, and implements targeted communication strategies to maximize contributions and donor loyalty. This position is also responsible for researching, writing, and managing grants to fund strategic initiatives, ensuring the museum’s financial health and mission-driven impact. Managers support general operations as needed.
The Donor Development Manager plays an integral part in making sure KidZone has engaging exhibits, interactive experiences, and the resources to provide access for all visitors.
Essential Functions:
Capital Campaign
- Prepares campaign materials
- Coordinates Donor Prospect Strategies
- Tracks Contributions
- Supports Major Donor Cultivation and Stewardship throughout all Phases of the Campaign
Donor Relations
- Designs and Implements Annual Fundraising Campaigns
- Cultivates and Stewards Relationships with Individual Donors, Corporate Sponsors, and Foundation Partners and Oversee Donor Communications
- Drafts Newsletters, Solicitation Letters, and Impact Updates
- Prepares Timely Thank-you Letters and Acknowledgments
- Coordinates Donor Meetings and Supports Leadership and Board Members in Donor Engagement
Grants and Sponsorships
- Researches and Identifies Grant Opportunities Aligned with the Museum’s Programs
- Drafts Proposals and Budgets for Grants and Manages Reporting Requirements
- Cultivates Sponsorships and In-kind Donations from Businesses and Community Partners to Strengthen KidZone’s Financial Base
Events and Fundraising Support
- Coordinates with Fundraising Committee to Execute Fundraising Events such as Galas, Donor Receptions and Community Benefit Activities
- Secures Sponsorships, Coordinates Logistics, Manages Volunteers and Ensures Successful Donor Recognition
- Prepares Post-event Evaluation and Reports
Board Engagement
- Provides Tools, Training and Support to Strengthen their Role in Fundraising and Donor Cultivation
- Coordinates Board Participation in Campaigns, Events and Stewardship Activities
- Prepares Fundraising Updates for Board Meetings
Administrative and Database Management
- Maintains Accurate Donor Records in the Fundraising Database
- Oversees Donor and Stakeholder List Management
- Generates Reports for Staff and Board Review
- Ensures Compliance with Nonprofit Fundraising Standards
- Supports Overall Fundraising Administration
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of Nonprofit Development, Fundraising, and/or Grant Management Experience
- Proficient in CRM Systems
- Strong Communication and Organizational Skills
- Experience with Donor Databases Preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree in Non-Profit Management or Related Field Desirable
- Research and informative persuasive writing for fundraising purposes
- Must have reliable transportation, ideally living within Reno/Truckee Area and can travel in snow
Compensation
- Salary range: $70,000 – $80,000 Annually (based on qualifications)
