Brief Description

Kidwell is looking for a hard-working, positive, and self-motivated individual to join our team as a Summer Application Specialist Intern. This internship is a summer-only, full-time opportunity designed for students pursuing a degree in Computer Science or a related field who are eager to gain hands-on experience in software development, API integration and AI/ML initiatives.

The primary function of this position will be to support the Application Specialist in developing and integrating software solutions across the organization. The intern will contribute to real-world technical projects, including a focused AI/ML initiative. Other tasks and responsibilities will depend on the intern’s abilities and the needs of the department.

This is a unique opportunity to gain real-world experience in API development and AI/ML applications while working alongside experienced professionals in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in analyzing, designing, and supporting RESTful APIs and software integration.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries to support reporting, automation, and application functionality.
  • Develop and test Python-based scripts and applications.
  • Assist with converting SQL queries into API calls using JSON or XML.
  • Support troubleshooting efforts and help identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • Participate in the development lifecycle - including testing, documentation, and implementation.
  • Complete a summer AI/ML-focused project that may include data analysis, predictive modeling, or automation initiatives.
  • Complete special technical projects and other miscellaneous assignments as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Candidates must currently be working toward a Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of Python and SQL is required.
  • Coursework or a minor in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or Data Science is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of RESTful APIs, object-oriented programming, and database structures is preferred.
  • Honesty, dependability, organization, and strong attention to detail are essential to this position.
  • Possesses strong verbal, written, communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with technical and non-technical team members.
