What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Development Specialist position at KidsPeace?
* Responsible for the supervision and guidance of clients in a behavioral health residential facility.
* Demonstrate relationship building, appropriate boundaries, and role modeling with clients.
* Demonstrate care, compassion, respect, integrity, truthfulness, and ethical behavior with clients, as well as interactions with other staff members.
* Ensure a safe and secure environment. Act immediately to remove all dangers or threats to the welfare of clients in your care.
* Distribute prescribed medication to clients and complete all related documentation per KidsPeace policy and Medication Administration training and certification.
* Develop an understanding and be in compliance with all regulatory bodies and KidsPeace policies regarding documentation of services.
*Understand and comply with all laws, regulations and ethical practices, as well as the duty to report a belief of a violation of laws, regulations, standards, and ethical practices.
* Fully perform restraints as necessary when ordered by a licensed professional using the current approved KidsPeace restraint methodology on clients who may weigh in excess of 250 pounds and who are verbally or physically threatening or otherwise presenting a threat to themselves or others.
*Supervise daily routines and responsibilities of clients and ensure performance of daily self-care tasks, assisting when necessary.
* Provide minor first aid treatment where necessary
* Provide individual services to clients as the need arises, per the individual service plan
* Work with a multidisciplinary team of associates implementing individual treatment plans and unit programming in a compassionate and respectful manner.
* Applicants for this position must have an unwavering commitment to the safety of adolescents (ages 12-17).
We encourage candidates with college credits or degrees in Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice, and Education as well as prior relatable work experience to consider applying for this position.
Minimal requirements:
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must have a High School diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to pass a background check, drug screen, and physical.
Available shifts: 3pm-11pm Sundays through Saturday. Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
Compensation starts at $18.50 hourly based on education and prior work experience.
