Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Program & Transportation Specialist to safely transport students to our program, and then home afterward, driving the KMI 15 passenger van. In addition, this person will support the operation of our After-School Woodworking Program. The ideal candidate is passionate about working with teenagers and young adults, reliable, organized, and committed to our mission of empowering youth through woodworking education.
Responsibilities
- Modeling for all students the positive and respectful spirit of success at Kids Making It
- Transporting teen participants daily, to and from KMI, safely in our 15-passenger van
- Picking up students from school during the school year, and from home locations during the summer season
- Scheduling and coordinating daily pickups and dropoffs of kids with other KMI van driver and Student Support Specialist
- Dropping kids off at home after our programs end
- Pickup/Dropoff locations will include low-income housing communities, along with other areas in the northside and southside of downtown Wilmington.
- Providing assistance for our after-school program and/or gift shop support
- Provide transportation for field trips and other activities as needed
- Maintaining a clean and safe environment for riders in our van
- Ensuring security camera system in van is on and functioning 100% of the time the vehicle is in use
- Responsibilities are subject to change as needed
Minimum Requirements
- Empathetic and interested in understanding our students and their needs/interests/goals
- Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record
- View safety as the single most important priority
- Able to occasionally climb stairway leading to upstairs classroom and offices
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- A patient person who is encouraging, positive, and proactive
- A person who thrives as a team player and who enjoys being a part of a small and hard-working team
- Must enjoy working with a wide variety of people, with a diversity of backgrounds and life experiences
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing circumstances.
- Must have reliable transportation
- Dependable and punctual
Preferred
- Prior experience working with and mentoring disadvantaged youth and/or disadvantaged young adults
- High school diploma or equivalent
Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
