Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly, dedicated, and reliable Retail Specialist to oversee operations for both our brick-and-mortar gift shop and online storefront. The most important part of this role is serving as the first point of contact for the public, the kids we serve, and our supporters - warmly greeting visitors and passionately sharing the mission of Kids Making It.
The Retail Specialist will be responsible for:
- Modeling for all students the positive and respectful spirit of success at Kids Making It
- Happily greeting customers and enthusiastically share Kids Making It’s mission
- Ensuring a clean and well-staged gift shop
- Scheduling of volunteers for gift shop cashier shifts
- Serving as the point of contact for all gift shop volunteer communications
- Training volunteers on Point of Sale system, student inventory, customer service, sharing our mission
- Managing and adding student inventory into KMI’s Point of Sale system
- Ensuring all marketing materials stay appropriately stocked
- Working in conjunction with KMI’s Apprentice Manager to send out and follow up on Custom Order Invoicing
- Answering the main KMI phone line and transferring calls as necessary
- Working alongside the Marketing and Volunteer Manager to conduct monthly online student product drops
- Responsibilities are subject to change as needed
Minimum Requirements:
- Empathetic and interested in understanding our students and their needs/interests/goals
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Retail and Point of Sale experience
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing circumstances.
- Excellent organizational skills and acute attention to detail
- A patient person who is encouraging, positive, and proactive
- A person who thrives as a team player and who enjoys being a part of a small and hard-working team
- Must enjoy working with a wide variety of people, with a diversity of backgrounds and life experiences
- Must have reliable transportation
- Dependable and punctual
Preferred:
- Previous experience in retail management or hospitality management
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience with Shopify and Google Suite (i.e. Google Docs, Sheets, etc.)
Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
