Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Closing Teacher to join our team. In this role, you will help create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for young children at the end of their day with us. Your enthusiasm and commitment will help ensure a smooth transition at the end of each day, fostering positive experiences for children and maintaining high standards of care and supervision. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on children’s development while working in a collaborative and supportive setting.
The hours for this position are minimum of 2:00pm-6:00pm daily Monday-Friday with the possibility of picking up earlier hours when coverage is needed.
Responsibilities
- Supervising children during the closing hours of the day, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times
- Engage children in age-appropriate activities that promote social, emotional, and developmental growth
- Maintain a clean, organized classroom environment by tidying up materials and ensuring all areas are safe and welcoming
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding daily activities, behaviors, and any concerns that arise during the closing shift
- Follow all mandated reporting laws to report any signs of abuse or neglect promptly and appropriately
- Support classroom routines such as snack time, bathroom breaks, and outdoor play while adhering to health and safety guidelines including first aid procedures
- Collaborate with team members to implement individualized plans for children with special needs or disabilities, ensuring inclusive care practices
Skills
- Prior experience working with children in daycare, preschool, or early childhood education settings but willing to train the right person
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and child supervision techniques
- Certification in pediatric first aid and CPR (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- Strong communication skills for effective parent interaction and team collaboration
- Ability to manage behavior positively using age-appropriate behavior management strategies
- Understanding of mandated reporting laws related to child safety and welfare
- Experience with classroom organization, child care routines, and early childhood instruction
- Passion for working with young children and supporting their growth through engaging activities
