SUMMARY
The Director, Pricing will be responsible for evaluating the current approach to pricing, then recommending and implementing new pricing strategies, structures, methodologies and programs. The Director, Pricing will be responsible for revising pricing plans and policies to increase overall profitability; improving pricing processes, tools and analytics on a global basis; and managing pricing reporting and analysis for optimizing pricing performance.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Work with sales, product development, channel strategy and cross-functional leaders to understand product/division objectives, and market, channel and customer strategies
· Evaluate existing pricing plans, policies and procedures, leading to a road map of strategized pricing structures, methodologies and programs for global retail, dot.com and distributor accounts
· Actively participate in the setting, review and revision of global price lists, including modeling of scenarios to determine optimal pricing structures, programs and promotions for new and existing customers, new product introductions, inline items, and discontinued or excess products
· Work closely with sales and product management to develop and capitalize on tactical pricing opportunities to increase sales volume and optimize profitability
· Collaborate with sales and product management to develop specific pricing strategies for customers that operate across multi-channels and/or international markets
· Coordinate resources to evaluate value added services and other factors that affect pricing within various global markets
· Prepare and present pricing strategies, proposals, and analyses to executive management for review and approval
· Own implementation of recommended pricing changes and timelines with cross-functional and global teams, as well as effective roll out of those changes
· Evaluate, improve and own standard pricing analytics, software and decision making tools, including training and utilization
· In partnership with sales analysts, regularly analyze impact and effectiveness of all pricing activities including list prices, discounts, allowances, programs, and promotions. In addition, identify pricing threats and opportunities by analyzing relevant data, rates-of-sale, customer feedback, and market insights in order to maximize sales while managing to target margins
· Partner with IT to develop a pricing data base and use that data base to build and administer dashboards for sales to regularly report out on margin performance
· Other duties & responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
· 7 years relevant pricing experience, ideally with CPG products, in constructing, managing, analyzing and/or reporting of pricing strategies, structures, methodologies, programs, data, tools, and performance
· Experience in developing and evaluating pricing strategies, methodologies and plans across a range of global markets, channels and accounts
· In depth knowledge of pricing and price promotion elements, drivers and dynamics, preferably in a multi-tier pricing environment with retail, dot.com, direct-to-consumer, and distributor customers
· Proven expertise in using qualitative and quantitative modeling and scenario analytics in the development of effective pricing strategies and methodologies
· Proficiency in advanced Microsoft Excel functions, relational database management skills, and utilization of pricing software tools
EDUCATION & SKILLS
· Bachelor’s degree (BA) in Business Admin or a related field or equivalent work related experience is required.
· Strong combination of business acumen and analytic skills used to achieve plans, goals and bottom line results
· Strong project management skills, including organizational collaboration, detail orientation, and proficiency in managing complex projects and tasks to completion
· Excellent problem solving skills, utilizing disciplined processes to find root causes and formulate alternative solutions
· Effective communication skills, with ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, as well as the ability to listen and respond to others throughout the organization, including senior executives
· Ability to self-initiate and work independently with minimal supervision and direction in a flexible, fast paced environment
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
· Certified Pricing Professional certification preferred
COMPUTER/TYPING SKILLS
· Must be proficient in PowerPoint, Excel and Word; basic understanding of Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photo Shop
