Reporting to the Centre Director, the Cook is an integral member of the Inspire Early Education team, supporting the overall management of daily kitchen operations. This role is responsible for food preparation and cooking while ensuring compliance with the Inspire Early Education standards.

Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook nutritious meals and snacks in accordance with established menus and guidelines
- Ensure compliance with CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program) requirements, including portion sizes and documentation.
- Maintain accurate temperature logs and ensure safe food storage and proper food handling practices
- Prepare meals for children with special dietary needs and allergies, ensuring strict adherence to individual requirements
- Maintain and regularly update children’s allergy lists
- Manage weekly food ordering, receiving, and inventory, including replenishing dishware and kitchen supplies
- Follow food portioning guidelines and maintain appropriate inventory levels to minimize waste
- Ensure compliance with all public health regulations and company policies
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness through daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules, including dishwashing duties
- Occasionally prepare food for field trips, school-age programs, and community events
- Adapt to changing duties based on the needs of the childcare centre
- Experience with CACFP is preferred
- Current Food Handler Certification
- Experience working with children or vulnerable populations
- Experience in a daycare or childcare environment is an asset
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Clear criminal record check
- Ability to push, pull, and lift upto 45 pounds
