The Supervisor of Independent Living provides direct supervision to the Independent Living Coordinators, Independent Living Navigator, and Administrative Assistant to ensure the programs are being conducted according to best practices, accreditation standards, agency policies and procedures, and in accordance with existing law.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Provides direct supervision and leadership to the Independent Living Administrative Assistant, Independent Living Navigator, and Independent Living Coordinators. 
  • One on One Supervision in conjunction with the Kids Central Job Coach in preparation of Certification. 
  • Monitors and evaluates performance of the Independent Living Coordinators and Navigator.
  • Assists the Director to coordinate the implementation of new services or modification of existing services.
  • Conducts Supervisory reviews and documents review in the Florida Safe Family Network System. 
  • Assists Independent Living Coordinators with counseling Independent Living clients in accordance with their Individual Service Plan and program expectations.
  • Conduct case reviews to ensure youth’s compliance with transition/intervention plans, which include activities to be completed and developing connections with community resources
  • Serves as a member on the internal Council on Accreditation Peer Review team.
  • Lead and/or participate on committees especially those relating to the independent living program.
  • Communicates with our partner agencies regarding support services to ensure expectations are being met in accordance with Agency and state regulations and accreditation standards.
  • Ensures that the Independent Living Coordinators under their supervision are properly trained prior to assuming duties (pre-service/orientation training).
  • Ensures that the Independent Living Coordinators under their supervision remain properly trained during their tenure as employees (in-service training, higher education courses, personal counseling, assigned readings, etc.) 
  • Maintains a high degree of professional education and training to ensure their ability to offer the highest level of best practice for the clients served in the program.
  • Serves as an ambassadorial representative of the Agency to the community.
  • Provides assistance with matters related to marketing and program promotion both on and off site.
  • Participates as a representative of the Agency by being a member of a community social services committee, as applicable.
  • Participates as needed as a representative of the Agency by making presentations to various groups.
  • Updates Independent Living Policies ongoing as needed
  • Plan and Facilitate Youth Advisory Council meetings after hours
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience

Bachelor's degree in social work and/or related field required with a minimum of three years' experience in the social services field is required. Master's in social work (MSW) and/or related field preferred. The Supervisor must have a sensitivity and responsiveness to the cultural differences in the organization’s employment and service population.

Other Requirements

Child Protective Professional Certification required

Current Background Clearance Screening Letter

Valid Florida driver’s license and insurable by agency’s current insurance carrier

Must carry company provided smart phone with data plan for business communications during and outside business hours

  • Excellent communications skills (verbal and written)
  • Good working knowledge of the Florida Child Welfare system and community resources

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including being on call
  • Ability to travel up to 65%
  • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and to reach with hands and arms.  The employee must also frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee is regularly required to bend/stoop and kneel. Repetitive motion is also required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
