What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant position at Kidney & Hypertension Associates?
- Position requires significant travel to local area clinics
- Clinics located in Covington, Hammond, Slidell, and Franklinton, LA
- Welcome first-time and follow-up patients
- Triage patients, perform Blood Pressure, Pulse and record vital signs
- Reconcile patient medications and update EHR
- Check in patients at clinic
- Check returning patients' data for up-to-date information. (Verify patients' addresses and phone numbers.)
- Give new patients the required forms to fill out. Once they have been returned, update demographics in system, assure name and Date of Birth is enter into the EHR
- Provide basic assistance to patients with completing forms as needed.
- Scan in patient insurance card and drivers’ license.
- Verify patient insurance.
- Call and get referrals if needed.
- Monitor flow of patients and files as patients see medical staff.
- Periodically check status of patient wait and keep patients informed.
- Check patients out in system and schedule follow-up appointment, noting time and date in system’s appointment scheduler and providing patient with appointment card.
- Answer phones, take messages
- Call & Confirm Appointments when necessary
- Fax orders when necessary
- Ensure that patient waiting area is neat and restroom areas are adequately supplied.
- Take consults when their called in and send to physician on duty
Pay: $32,000.00 - $35,000.00 per year

Education:
- High school or equivalent (Preferred)
License/Certification:
- BLS Certification (Preferred)
- Certified Medical Assistant (Preferred)
