Kitchen Cook for Childcare Center

Preschool Cook | Chef | Monday-Friday | No Evenings or Weekends

Kiddie Academy of Seattle at Greenwood is hiring a full-time Preschool Cook to prepare healthy meals and snacks for children in our early childhood education program.

Our goal is to serve nutritious, wholesome meals and snacks cooked using as many fresh/local/organic ingredients as practically possible. This is a great opportunity for someone with experience as a school cook, childcare cook, prep cook, kitchen cook, food service cook, or institutional cook who is looking for a consistent Monday-Friday daytime schedule.

In this position the Cook is responsible for meal preparation, food preparation, food safety, sanitation, inventory, ordering, and daily kitchen operations.

The cook | Chef will work from Monday to Friday and enjoy weekends off ! A typical workday will start at 6:45 AM and finish between 3:00 ~ 4:00 PM, leaving rest of the evening open!

Job Description:

• Plans and prepares snacks and meals in accordance with posted menus and nutrition regulations.
• Determines meal and snack count and distributes food to each classroom.
• Removes trays and leftovers from classrooms and disposes accordingly.
• Performs weekly food and supply inventory; submits list of needed items to Management.
• Orders food and supply items from approved supplier, within budget set by Management.
• Checks-in supply deliveries to ensure accuracy of order placed.
• Ensures that all state and local health department, licensing, safety and nutritional requirements are met; follows standards of personal hygiene, safety, and sanitation and ensures that other staff in kitchen do the same.
• Keeps kitchen, including appliances, cabinets and all inventory organized and clean.
• Attends and participates in staff meetings, training sessions, and academy events as requested.

An ideal candidate will have:

• At least 2 years of cooking experience
• Experience in a preschool, childcare center, school kitchen, senior living, assisted living, healthcare, cafeteria, or other institutional food-service environment is a plus
• Ability to manage food inventory and supply ordering
• Food training in sanitation, food safety, nutrition, food preparation
• Food Handler's Permit as required by WA state

• Pay: $22.00 - $25.50 per hour. Starting pay within this range is based on relevant experience, education, and qualifications.
