Job Overview
Kiddie Academy of Castle Rock has an exciting leadership opportunity for an energetic, organized and inspiring leader to join us as our Academy Director. This position will allow you to use your experience in early childhood education to influence the growth and development of children, while building and guiding a team of child care professionals. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children and a strong understanding of childhood development. This role involves providing a safe, engaging, and educational environment for infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Effectively operates and manages all aspects of a child care school, to include human resources, customer relations, financial systems, quality control and facility management
- Ensures that the appearance, cleanliness, and safe environment of classrooms are appropriately maintained
- Ensures that all classroom and outdoor equipment are in good working condition and maintained properly
- Maintains high capacity utilization and manages all resources effectively and within budget
- Completes all Academy and classroom paperwork including accident reporting
- Actively develops and maintains positive customer/community relations
- Establishes strong working relationships with state licensing authorities
- Attends and participates in staff meetings, academy events, and parent meetings as requested
- Leads tours with prospective families, highlighting key features/differentiators of the curriculum, teacher tenure/quality, etc.
- Ensures management is available to greet parents during peak hours (7:00 AM - 9:00AM and 4:00 - 6:00PM)
- Communicates appropriate information to parents and maintains developmental profiles for children
- Listens objectively to all parent, child, and staff concerns, then plans a course of action and ensures the issue is appropriately resolved
- Uses a growth mindset to train, coach and develop for the future
- Identifies, schedules and interviews teacher candidates; Builds networks of external future talent
- Manages new hire paperwork and all employee files in compliance with state licensing regulations
- Builds and communicates center schedules to ensure appropriate ratios are always intact and labor is effectively managed to budget
- Manages team to ensure our Life Essentials curriculum is executed in alignment with Kiddie Academy standards
- Conducts classroom observations, evaluations and provides feedback that motivates and encourages learning
- Develops, plans, and prepares instructional aides/materials for classroom activities
- Directs activities of other staff in the classroom to ensure that the classroom functions in an orderly manner
- Ensures that classroom medication schedule is followed
- Maintains family information board and other classroom bulletin boards
- Conducts monthly emergency safety drills
- Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have a four year degree in Early Childhood Education or a related area of Child Development
- Must have minimum three years of experience as a Director or Assistant Director in a child care school in Colorado State
- Must meet all requirements stipulated by the state for this position
- Pleasant/friendly demeanor and an outgoing personality
- Highly professional and dependable
- Strong knowledge of state licensing rules and regulations
- CPR and First Aide Certification highly preferred
- Large Center Director qualified in the state of Colorado
- Must be able to interact appropriately with students, parents, coworkers, and management
- Previous experience in a start-up child care will be a plus!
- Strong behavior management skills to handle various situations effectively.
- Classroom management experience to maintain an orderly learning environment.
- Familiarity with infant care practices is highly desirable.
- Ability to create engaging activities for preschool-aged children that stimulate learning.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with both children and parents effectively.
