Job Description

• Providing responsive care, effective teaching, and an organized learning environment that fosters trust and emotional security.
• Providing supervision and overall safety and well-being of each child in the classroom.
• Promoting children’s healthy development and skill growth as aligned in the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework:Age Birth to Five.
• Promoting critical thinking, problem-solving, social, emotional, behavioral, and language development in daily learning experiences and activities.
• Maintaining ongoing assessment of each child to maximize their developmental growth and prepare them for kindergarten.
• Planning to the needs of individual children with respect and concern for their interests, special needs, special talents, and individual style and pace of learning.
• Recruiting of parents and suitable individuals to serve as classroom volunteers.
• Maintaining proper In-kind records from volunteers.
• Participating in all training sessions, visitations, meetings and program events held by the agency for the overall planning of the program to maintain and complete mandated in-service hours as per the Department of Children and Families and the Head Start Performance Standards.
• Maintaining the arrangement, safety, maintenance, appearance and décor of the learning environment and surrounding environment.
• Maintain regular communication with parents with daily rapport, holding parent conferences as needed but no less than two per program year, and conducting at least two home visits per program year.
• Working with parents for input on their child’s overall development, lesson plans, activities, and other events.
• Providing necessary modifications to the environment to ensure full participation of children with disabilities.
• Explaining the transition process to parents and engage their participation and input in the process.
• Ensuring that classroom equipment and materials are in good condition for the safety and well-being of children.
• Maintaining an updated list for ordering classroom supplies and equipment.
• Assuming equal share of the classroom housekeeping responsibilities such as: sanitizing, sweeping, dusting, mopping, taking out the trash, etc.
• Maintaining complete and up to date program forms as required by KIDCO and the Head Start program.
• Encouraging parents to read and utilize the program's resource library and access to computers.
• Completing the Personnel Activity Report (Time Sheet).
• Treating children’s records with confidentiality.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• Possession at a minimum of a Associates or Bachelor's with 6 courses in Early Childhood education
• Must complete all Department of Children and Families minimum requirements, KIDCO’s minimum requirements and standards set for by the Head Start Performance Standards.
