Company Description Kid One Transport is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing non-emergency medical transportation for children and expectant mothers across Alabama who have limited or no access to reliable transportation. As the state’s only provider focused on this mission, Kid One Transport completed 22,545 transports in 2018, connecting families to vital healthcare services. The organization serves a wide range of medical needs, including routine pediatric, dental, and vision appointments, prenatal visits, and critical treatments such as chemotherapy, radiation, surgeries, and dialysis. Kid One Transport works to reduce barriers created by socioeconomic disparities, helping families access essential care and improve health outcomes.


Role Description The Non-Emergency Medical Transport Driver is a full-time, on-site role based in Southwest, AL. The driver can be from and will serve Clarke, Escambia, Monroe, and Washington counties. Familiarities with all of these counties and the Mobile County area is preferred. This position is responsible for safely transporting children and expectant mothers to and from scheduled medical appointments, following designated routes and schedules. The driver will assist passengers in boarding and exiting vehicles as needed, ensure their comfort and safety during transit, and maintain a clean, well-organized vehicle. Day-to-day tasks include conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections, documenting trip details, complying with all traffic and safety regulations, and communicating clearly with dispatch, caregivers, and medical facilities. The role also involves demonstrating empathy, professionalism, and cultural sensitivity while supporting families during their medical visits.


Qualifications

Must be 25 years of age or older, have a valid Alabama Drivers' License, current vehicle insurance, clean driving record, live one of the service counties and be familiar with surrounding counties. Also, the driver must be comfortable driving long distances each day and maintaining a flexible work schedule.
