Role Summary We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Part-Time Sushi Chef to prepare authentic sushi and Japanese dishes. You will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and kitchen hygiene during your shift.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and present a variety of sushi, sashimi, rolls, and nigiri to order
- Slice and portion fish and other ingredients with precision and care
- Maintain proper food storage, labeling, and rotation (FIFO)
- Keep the sushi bar clean, organized, and stocked throughout the shift
- Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Collaborate with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service
- Assist with receiving and inspecting fresh fish and seafood deliveries
Qualifications
- Prior experience as a sushi chef or in a Japanese kitchen (2 years preferred)
- Knowledge of traditional sushi techniques and fish butchery
- Familiarity with food safety standards and proper knife handling
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and pride in presentation
- Reliable, punctual, and a team player
- Food handler's certificate (or willingness to obtain one)
