Summary
The Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical and electronic systems. This role supports safe and reliable plant operations by ensuring electrical equipment, control systems, and instrumentation are functioning properly and meet operational and safety requirements. The Electrician performs both preventive and corrective maintenance on a wide range of industrial systems with minimal supervision.
Essential Job Functions
· Interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, schematics, and technical instructions to perform installation, maintenance, and repair work.
· Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems including motors, generators, transformers, control panels, and distribution systems.
· Diagnose electrical and electronic issues using logical troubleshooting methods and testing equipment.
· Repair and maintain industrial control systems, instrumentation, and process automation equipment.
· Inspect, dismantle, service, reassemble, test, and adjust electrical and electronic equipment for safe and efficient operation.
· Perform calibration and maintenance on gauges, sensors, controllers, and related instrumentation.
· Install, maintain, and repair communication systems, control circuits, and plant‑wide electrical infrastructure.
· Fabricate, modify, and install conduit, cable systems, and electrical components as required.
· Make power cable splices and terminate wiring in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
· Maintain and update maintenance and performance records for electrical systems and equipment.
· Respond to emergency breakdowns and troubleshoot issues to minimize production downtime.
· Work safely around energized systems while following lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and electrical safety standards.
· Support continuous improvement initiatives related to equipment reliability, safety, and efficiency.
· Work independently or direct helpers and other personnel as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no direct supervisory responsibility.
Minimum Requirements
· High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school training in electrical systems preferred.
· Three (3) or more years of experience as an industrial electrician in a manufacturing environment.
· Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, controls, and troubleshooting techniques.
· Ability to read and interpret electrical prints, schematics, and technical documentation.
· Familiarity with applicable electrical codes and safety standards (e.g., NEC, OSHA).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Strong understanding of electrical theory, circuits, and industrial power distribution systems.
· Experience with AC/DC motors, drives, transformers, and control systems.
· Knowledge of industrial automation, PLCs, and instrumentation systems preferred.
· Proficiency in using electrical testing and diagnostic equipment.
· Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and electronic issues and perform root cause analysis.
· Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to support cross‑functional maintenance activities.
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and prioritize tasks effectively.
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality.
· Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Working Conditions
The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to safely and successfully perform the essential functions of this job consistent with federal, state, and local standards, including meeting productivity standards.
· Regular standing, walking, bending, and reaching throughout the shift
· Occasional below waist level work, climbing, carrying, reaching over or away from the body, reaching above the shoulder, push/pull, and lifting up to 35 lbs.
· Regular use of computer systems for inventory management, work orders, purchasing, and reporting
· Exposure to industrial conditions such as noise, dust, temperature variations, and moving equipment is common as well as the need to work at heights
