🏢 Owner Representative / Construction Project Management

KGO is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager / Owner Representative to support multiple commercial construction and renovation projects for a major energy client across California. This role will oversee projects from initiation through closeout while acting as the Owner’s advocate throughout design, procurement, construction, and relocation activities.

The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with strong commercial construction management experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and project teams in active operational environments.

This position is primarily based in San Diego, CA, with periodic travel required to project sites in Middletown, CA and Pittsburg, CA.

Key Responsibilities

The Project Manager / Owner Representative will oversee and manage all phases of projects, including but not limited to:

Scope of Services

1. Project Initiation
2. Discovery and Planning
3. Design
4. General Contractor Procurement
5. Permitting
6. Construction Administration
7. Project Close-Out

General Services

• Collaborate with Owner representatives and key stakeholders
• Manage consultants and contractors throughout the project lifecycle
• Ensure all deliverables align with project schedules, budgets, and Owner expectations
• Serve as the primary point of contact (POC) for assigned projects
• Coordinate and monitor project activities, including night/weekend phasing work
• Review project budgets, schedules, contracts, drawings, specifications, RFIs, and change orders
• Maintain project financial reporting, forecasting, accruals, and cost tracking
• Monitor contractor performance, inspections, commissioning activities, and project compliance
• Support substantial completion and project closeout activities
• Attend recurring owner meetings, financial reviews, and change management sessions
• Provide on-site construction administration support during active construction activities

• Full office fit-out and renovation project
• Furniture, fixtures & equipment coordination
• Occupied-space relocation management

Calpine Geothermal Visitor Center Renovations

• Multi-phase renovation projects
• Periodic travel required

Delta Energy Visitor Center Renovations

• Various renovation and infrastructure projects
• Travel required throughout project duration

Required QualificationsRequired

• Active PMP Certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Interior Design, or related field preferred
• 5–7 years of progressive commercial construction project management experience
• 5 years serving directly as an Owner Representative
• Strong knowledge of:
• Construction methodologies
• Design management
• Budgeting & forecasting
• Scheduling & procurement
• Change management
• Construction administration
• Experience managing architects, engineers, contractors, and consultants
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Proficiency with:
• MS Office Suite
• Procore
• Bluebeam
• Autodesk Construction Cloud
• AutoCAD / Revit
• Adobe Acrobat Professional

Additional Requirements

• Must be willing to work on-site when required
• Must be willing to support off-hours/weekend construction activities
• Must be able to travel periodically between California project sites
• Ability to work independently in fast-paced construction environments

Compensation

• Competitive hourly compensation based on qualifications and experience
• 1099 independent contractors and salaried employees will both be considered
• Travel-related project expenses reimbursable per project policy
