Overview

The Full-Time Medical Assistant works with a Podiatrist who provides services in the long-term care setting.  This position requires extensive travel in the designated Ormond Beach, FL territory. Travel mileage reimbursement is provided. 

Position Summary:

A leading provider of podiatry services to the long term care industry in Florida is expanding rapidly. In order to continue providing the highest level of service, we are looking for an exceptional person to join our administrative team in Florida!  This position will help patients feel at ease with the podiatrist.  Additionally, the individual will work with other members of our staff to provide the highest level of customer service to our facilities, patients, family members, etc.  This FULL-TIME position works out of the - Ormond Beach, FL Territory.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists the physician during exams
  • Prepares patients for examination
  • Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; reviewing and/or recording medical history
  • Confirms purpose of visit or treatment
  • Completes records by recording patient examination and treatment
  • Generates revenues by recording billing information of services rendered
  • Provides superior customer service to our doctors, facilities, and their resident/family members
  • Be part of a team that is committed to providing quality, quantity and reliability each and every day

Qualifications

Qualifications:Education and/or Experience:

  • One (1) year of healthcare experience preferred
  • Electronic Medical Records (EMR) experience preferred

Competencies:

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to multitask and work independently.

 Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Medical Assistant Certification preferred

Computer Skills:

  • Proficiency using software programs such as MS Word, Adobe, Gmail, Excel, and Outlook

Environmental Factors/Physical Demands:

Work is performed in an office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have the ability to maintain active customer and employee communication; access, input and retrieve information from the computer system; enter alpha-numeric data into a computerized system often while listening on the telephone. May be subject to repetitive motion such as typing, data entry and vision to monitor. May be subject to bending, reaching, kneeling, stooping and lifting up to thirty (30) pounds.

Due to the nature of this position, you will have access to Protected Health Information (PHI) governed by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other applicable federal and state privacy laws.

 

As a condition of your employment, you are required to:

  • Maintain the strict confidentiality of all patient information at all times
  • Safeguard all PHI in any form (electronic, paper, verbal)
  • Follow all KGHP policies and procedures regarding HIPAA and data security

You will be required to complete HIPAA training upon hire and annually thereafter. Any breach of confidentiality or unauthorized disclosure of patient information may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination and may carry legal consequences under state or federal law.

 

AHCA/Agency for Health Care Administration Clearinghouse:As a condition of employment, you are required to participate in the mandatory AHCA Clearinghouse Background Screening / Fingerprinting process which will be arranged by KG Health Partners. Background results must be approved by AHCA.

Employment At-Will:

Your employment in Florida is  "at will" and either you or KG may terminate the employment relationship at any time, with or without cause or notice. Nothing in this letter creates a contract for continued employment.
