Responsibilities

Kforce has a client in Jersey City, NJ that is seeking a Staff Software Engineer/Architect (Java, Trading). Summary: Our client is seeking a Staff Software Engineer/Architect (Java, Trading) to help shape and build a next-generation global trading platform. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a low-latency environment and has a passion for designing scalable, high-performance systems used in electronic trading, smart order routing (SOR), and real-time market data processing. In this key role, you will define technical direction, turn complex business requirements into robust service architectures, and collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver resilient, low-latency solutions. Key Responsibilities:

• Architect and design a high-throughput, enterprise-grade algo trading platform
• Lead the development of distributed, event-driven systems using Java, Aeron, and other high-performance messaging frameworks
• Design and optimize Smart Order Routing (SOR) logic for multi-venue execution
• Leverage AWS cloud services to build scalable, secure, and fault-tolerant components
• Collaborate with product, infrastructure, and trading teams to ensure alignment between business needs and system capabilities
• Set and maintain engineering best practices for code quality, performance, and reliability
  
  

Requirements

• 10 years of software engineering experience
• Proven expertise in low-latency trading systems architecture
• Proficiency in Java coding, API design and distributed systems
• Experience with execution algorithms
• Knowledge of smart order routing (SOR) and algo trading
• Knowledge of Aeron or related technology
• Knowledge of microservices architecture and cloud-based deployments
• Ability to mentor agile teams
  
  

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
