Sr. or Principal Optical Characterization Engineer

Responsibilities

Kforce's client, a growing innovative technology company, is seeking a Senior or Principal Optical Test and Characterization Engineer in Kirkland, WA. We are working directly with the hiring manager on this search assignment. This company offers a competitive compensation package including base salary, quarterly bonuses and equity in the company. Overview: In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating, characterizing, and optimizing the performance of 3D sensors and sub-assemblies, supporting both product development and system integration efforts. Your work will directly impact the quality and reliability of our 3D sensing systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Optics, Computer Science, or a related field
• At least 5 years of experience with Optical Sensors, or RF sensors, or Imaging systems, or Radar systems or Lidar sensors, or similar hardware characterization and testing
• The ideal candidate has prior experience in 3D sensing systems, time of flight (ToF), and/or other types of 2D and 3D imaging systems
• Hands-on experience with laboratory instrumentation (oscilloscopes, spectrometers, laser systems)
• Experience in interacting with databases (SQL, Postgres) for managing and analyzing large datasets
• Knowledge of optical system measurements
• Familiarity with signal processing, calibration techniques, and sensor modeling
• Proficiency with data analysis tools (Python, MATLAB, or similar)
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively across internal functional units as well as with partners and customers
• Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural team setting
• Ability to prepare and deliver reports and presentations
• Experience building test stations from scratch is desired
• Experience setting up a station to measure optical systems is preferred
  
  

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
