Kforce has a client in Armonk, NY that is seeking a Senior Teradata Developer/DBA. Responsibilities:
- Design and develop Teradata databases, tables, views, macros, and stored procedures
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries for ETL processes and reporting
- Implement data integration solutions using Teradata utilities (BTEQ, FastLoad, MultiLoad, TPump, FastExport)
- Collaborate with data analysts and business teams to translate requirements into technical solutions
- Perform unit testing and troubleshoot data issues within Teradata systems
- Support migration and conversion projects (e.g., Oracle/Informatica to Teradata or Big Data environments)
- Install, configure, and maintain Teradata database systems
- Monitor system performance and perform tuning for optimal efficiency
- Manage user access, roles, and security policies
- Implement backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies
- Conduct capacity planning and manage space allocation (Permanent, Spool, Temporary)
- Maintain database integrity and ensure compliance with data governance standards
- Provide on-call support for urgent incidents and performance issues
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- Teradata certification is a plus
- 3-5 years of experience in Teradata development and administration
- Proficiency in Teradata SQL and database architecture
- Strong knowledge of ETL processes and data warehousing concepts
- Hands-on experience with Teradata utilities (BTEQ, FastLoad, MultiLoad, TPump)
- Experience with performance tuning and query optimization
- Familiarity with scripting languages (Unix Shell, Python)
- Understanding of data modeling (logical and physical)
- Analytical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and ability to work in Agile environments
- Exposure to Big Data technologies (Hadoop, Spark)
- Experience with scheduling tools (Control-M, Autosys)
- Knowledge of data governance and security best practices
- Familiarity with BI tools (Tableau, Power BI)
