Senior Technical Accountant

Responsibilities

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Senior Technical Accountant in Baltimore, MD. Summary: We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Accountant to support technical accounting, financial reporting, revenue recognition, and lease accounting activities. This role will provide accounting guidance on complex transactions and contracts while ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, particularly ASC 606 Revenue Recognition and ASC 842 Lease Accounting. The ideal candidate has strong technical accounting experience, excellent contract analysis skills, and the ability to partner with Accounting, Sales, Finance, and business teams. Key Responsibilities:

• Manage lease accounting activities in accordance with ASC 842
• Maintain lease schedules and ensure accurate general ledger accounting
• Review contracts and agreements for embedded or implicit leases
• Prepare quarterly and annual lease-related financial statement disclosures
• Manage revenue recognition accounting in accordance with ASC 606
• Review customer contracts and determine appropriate revenue recognition treatment
• Maintain revenue schedules, estimates, journal entries, and supporting documentation
• Provide accounting guidance during contract negotiations and business discussions
• Prepare technical accounting memorandums and document accounting conclusions
• Support quarterly and annual financial statement disclosures
• Complete GAAP disclosure checklists and support financial reporting requirements
• Research technical accounting matters and new accounting guidance
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities
• Assist with audit requests, special projects, and process improvements
  
  

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5 years of accounting experience
• Strong hands-on experience with ASC 606 and ASC 842
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and technical accounting principles
• Experience reviewing and interpreting complex contracts
• Experience with financial reporting and technical accounting research
• Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Big Four or public accounting experience
• CPA certification or CPA candidate
• Experience preparing technical accounting memorandums
• Experience supporting SEC or external financial reporting
• Experience working with domestic and international business units

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
