Kforce has a client that is seeking a Senior Fixed Asset Accountant in Springfield, VA. Overview: We are seeking an experienced accounting professional to join our team. This role focuses on financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and process improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments. Key Responsibilities:
- Execute analyses for monthly and quarterly close cycles for internal and external financial reporting
- Represent the accounting function in management meetings and with external auditors
- Perform comparative analysis for regulatory reports to ensure accuracy and compliance, including documentation of methodologies used
- Review existing processes, identify improvement opportunities, and assist with implementing approved changes
- Manage key functions within the Fixed Asset subledger, including project closeouts, capitalized interest calculations, and reconciliation to the general ledger
- Monitor Construction Work in Progress and ensure accurate accounting treatment
- Conduct accounting and regulatory research as needed
- Prepare and present monthly analysis in cross-functional meetings
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and applicable regulations
- Support other accounting functions and special projects as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5 years of experience in accounting or related discipline
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Ability to analyze and interpret data, solve problems, and meet tight deadlines
- Excellent communication skills for presenting complex issues to diverse audiences
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; Experience with accounting systems such as PeopleSoft or similar preferred
- Demonstrated leadership and ability to influence outcomes effectively
- CPA designation and/or experience with a public accounting firm preferred
