Kforce has a client that is seeking a Senior Accountant in New London, CT. Summary: Our client, a nonprofit organization in the higher education space, is seeking a Senior Accountant to support accounting operations, audit activities, grant accounting, and process improvement initiatives. This is a temp-to-hire opportunity with strong long-term growth potential. Responsibilities:

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.

- Prepare complex account reconciliations and journal entries
- Support month-end close, financial reporting, and grant accounting
- Assist with audit preparation and ongoing finance projects
- Perform financial analysis and resolve accounting issues independently
- Identify process improvements and system efficiencies
- Partner with finance leadership on key initiatives
- 3 years of Senior Accountant experience
- Nonprofit accounting experience required
- Experience with reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting
- Grant accounting experience
- Strong Excel, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Higher education accounting experience
- Blackbaud experience
- Process improvement or automation experience
