Microservices Solutions Architect

Responsibilities

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Microservices Solutions Architect in Maryland Heights, MO. Summary: We are seeking a Solutions Architect to support a highly complex, high-visibility ordering and mobile platform environment. This role operates in a fast-moving ecosystem with constant change, heavy system integrations, and strong technical opinions across teams. The ideal candidate is technically sharp, confident under pressure, and willing to challenge decisions to protect the long-term health of the platform-not just go along to get along. This is a hands-on architecture role with a strong emphasis on communication, influence, and decision-making across multiple internal teams and initiatives. Responsibilities:

• Design and guide solutions within a large-scale microservices-based ecosystem supporting ordering and mobile platforms
• Own and influence API and integration architecture across multiple dependent systems and services
• Evaluate complex system interactions holistically to ensure scalability, reliability, and minimal downstream impact
• Define and maintain REST API contracts, including authoring and reviewing Swagger/OpenAPI specifications
• Partner closely with engineering, product, and platform teams to drive architectural decisions and standards
• Confidently communicate and defend architectural recommendations in opinionated, high-pressure forums
• Support multiple concurrent initiatives, adjusting priorities and direction as business needs evolve
• Help strengthen and extend architectural best practices within the mobile domain while supporting ordering-related initiatives
• Act as a technical voice and advocate for platform stability, agent experience, and long-term system health
  
  

Requirements

• Proven experience operating as a Solutions Architect or Senior Engineer in complex, distributed systems
• Strong Java experience, ideally within Spring Boot-based environments
• Hands-on experience designing, documenting, and consuming RESTful APIs
• Deep understanding of microservices architecture and microservices design paradigms
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and confidently with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Comfortable working in high-visibility, high-pressure environments with frequent change
• Willingness to challenge assumptions, raise concerns, and advocate for sound architectural decisions
  
  

Preferred Skills

• Experience working in cloud environments (AWS preferred)
• Exposure to large enterprise platforms with extensive internal integrations
• Familiarity with API governance, versioning strategies, and integration best practices
  
  

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
