Industrial Maintenance Mechanic — Food Production

A day in the life

At 5:00 AM, you’re on the floor walking the lines, confirming that preventative checks are complete before production ramps up. Throughout the shift, you move from fine-tuning a conveyor’s alignment to troubleshooting a sensor on a packaging line, then jump into an urgent repair to keep output on schedule. Later, you help operators with teardown and sanitation, and reassemble equipment for the next run—always with safety and precision front and center.

What you’ll do

• Install, maintain, and improve production machinery and facility equipment across the plant.
• Tackle emergency/unscheduled equipment breakdowns during production and complete planned repairs as scheduled.
• Perform basic machinist duties as needed.
• Apply strong mechanical and electrical skills across pneumatic and hydraulic systems, with expert troubleshooting.
• Diagnose issues, replace or repair components, test performance, and make precise adjustments.
• Execute routine preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and facility assets.
• Handle general plumbing and carpentry tasks to support plant operations.
• Operate a range of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment safely and effectively.
• Identify faulty operations or defective materials and promptly report irregularities to supervisors.
• Follow safety regulations rigorously and keep work areas clean and organized.
• Support new line start-ups, new product/packaging trials, and equipment installations.
• Partner closely with line operators to meet production targets—troubleshoot issues, pinpoint root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Model leadership by coaching operators on basic preventive maintenance and optimal adjustments to elevate efficiency.
• Assist teams during equipment teardown, sanitation, and reassembly to ensure procedures are executed correctly and downtime/changeover is minimized.

What you bring

• Facilities maintenance experience in an industrial environment.
• Proven electrical troubleshooting and repair capabilities.
• Pneumatics troubleshooting proficiency.
• Broad maintenance and repair skill set, including work on industrial electrical systems.
• Expertise in equipment diagnostics and problem resolution.
• Strict adherence to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
• Hands-on equipment repair and maintenance experience.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
