JOB SUMMARY: Prepares records of shipments and bills of lading. Prepares records of receipt of incoming
material and equipment and posts to open orders of suppliers. Responsible for accuracy of shipping documents
and verifying receiving receipts with open orders.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with

•  Prepares bills of lading for each shipment and checks and records all items loaded for shipment.
• Allocates, prints, and invoices packing lists.
• Coordinates truck and container pick up for customer orders.
• On received goods, checks and counts all items unloaded from trucks or trailers. Checks suppliers count and reports discrepancies to carrier and to the Purchasing Department.
•  Enters data in the computer for all inbound, outbound, and internal movement of materials in the warehouse.
• Generates receivers. Prints out receivers with information that was put into the computer.
• Transfers manifest of all material that was received and shipped.
• Orders office and department supplies.
• Makes service calls on office equipment (copiers, typewriters, and fax machines).
• May process and report time cards on a weekly basis as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and two years of experience in shipping/receiving; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and
• procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
•  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
•  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
•  Ability to operate a computer and use database software.
•  Knowledge of computer inventory and shipping system.
•  Ability to use a 10-key calculator.
•  Knowledge of trucking routes and shipping functions.
   

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit.
The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls;
reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; and to stoop,
kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 10 pounds. Specific vision
abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability
to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near
moving mechanical parts, and is exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work
environment is usually moderate.
