What are the responsibilities and job description for the Utility Locator Technician I Temporary Project position at Keystone Utility Systems?
Job Description:
Keystone Utility Systems is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented individual to collect GPS coordinates for water and electric meter locations throughout the City of Gastonia. Using a mobile device paired with a Juniper Geode Sub-Meter GPS unit, the technician will travel on foot from residence to residence to log meter locations into our work order management system. This project is expected to last approximately six months.
We are also doing lead line surveys as well. You may be asked if you would like to do that on an as needed basis. That position would require you to dig, fill holes, haul dirt, etc. It may be a little more physically demanding. That payrate would be $23/hour.
Pay Rate:
- $15/hour: From clock-in until arrival at the first location and from the last location until return to the warehouse.
- $20/hour: While actively collecting GPS data in the field (from first to last location).

Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of driving experience.
- Must pass a criminal background check and motor vehicle record screening.
- Ability to walk extensively, bend, and work outdoors in various conditions.
- You will be required to use your personal vehicle. An upgraded auto insurance coverage will be required. Full details on coverage requirements and compensation will be discussed during the interview.
