Dance Instructor / Choreographer- (Resident Teaching Artist / Administrator)
We are seeking talented and passionate Dance Instructors to join our team with a flexible starting date of between April & August thru July 2027. Positions include full-time and part-time. In additional to dance instruction, the candidate will be trained for additional front desk duties. The successful candidate will have expertise in jazz and choreography, with some ballet and tap knowledge. The instructor will be responsible for teaching musical theater techniques to students of all ages and skill levels. Compensation is commensurate with experience (ranging from $20-$38/hour for instructional hours, $16 for non-instructional (some positions are salaried)).
Responsibilities:
- Plan and conduct musical theater classes for students of various ages and skill levels
- Teach musical theater and dance techniques
- Contribute choreography to Showcases and student musicals
- Create lesson plans and develop class materials
- Assess student progress and provide feedback
- Collaborate with other instructors to create interdisciplinary classes
- Attend staff meetings and participate in professional development opportunities
- Be on the creative team for the Academy Musicals
- Be able to learn front desk responsibilities such as communicating with current and prospective clients, managing enrollment software, and other administrative tasks assigned in order keep the employee full time.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Dance, Musical Theater or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Demonstrated expertise in one or multiple musical theater disciplines
- Experience teaching musical theater / dance to students of various ages and skill levels
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with other instructors and staff members
- Passion for musical theater/dance and a commitment to excellence in teaching
Possible full time hours are Tuesday-Friday 1:00-9:30 and Saturday from 8:30-4:45. Summer hours differ. Reach out for part time hours. KSMT Academy is located 25 minutes outside of Pittsburgh in Cranberry Township.

Keystone State Music Theater is a 502c3 nonprofit about 25 minutes outside Pittsburgh in Cranberry Township. We are a musical theater academy offering musical theater related programs ranging from "triple threat" programs, to elective course, to private lessons, to 3-4 fully produced musicals. Our facilites are modern, new, and well equipt.
