What are the responsibilities and job description for the Marine Crewing Specialist position at Keystone Shipping Co.?
Keystone Shipping Co. is seeking an ambitious, self-motivated and flexible Marine Crewing Specialist to join our Marine Personnel Department. This position reports directly to the Crewing Manager.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Align with management on identifying hiring needs and managing the talent acquisition process including recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding for seagoing officers and unlicensed crew positions.
Coordinate and track required training, certifications, and compliance for vessel crew.
Serve as company ambassador at career fairs and other in-person recruitment efforts.
Administer the Collective Bargaining Agreements and Shipping Rules for our maritime unions. Interact with unions to dispatch mariners as required and may assist in the union/employer grievance process.
Verify the vessel is crewed with qualified, physically fit, and able mariners; verifying all crew documents are valid and current.
Coordinate crew travel to and from the vessel.
Support emergency crew travel needs during evening and weekends, as necessary.
Maintain routine communication with vessel personnel for the purpose of developing positive employee relations, including occasional vessel visits.
Develop and maintain professional working relationships with union officials. This will include occasional travel to union offices, halls, and training facilities with direct person-to-person interactions.
May assist in union/employer grievance process.
Ability to learn company specific databases and Microsoft Excel to manage crew schedules, records, and compliance tracking.
Participating in unemployment hearings as required.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Prior experience in marine recruiting/vessel staffing
Prior experience working with maritime unions and contracts preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent critical thinking skills.
Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Education and Experience:
Prior experience of administering HR in a multi-union environment is a plus.
Prior experience in marine crewing or operations is a plus.
College degree preferred.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
