POSITION DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Custodian
DEPARTMENT: Buildings & Grounds
REPORTS TO: Director of Buildings, Grounds & Transportation
SUMMARY:
Be responsible for the care and cleanliness of the school building and grounds in order to create a safe and healthy environment for students, staff, visitors, and the general public.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Set up and break down tables, chairs, podiums, microphones, risers, physical education/athletic equipment, and similar equipment.
Assist with the unloading of delivery trucks and supply delivery to classrooms or storage areas.
Snow removal and grounds care, which includes sweeping along curbs, sidewalks, steps, parking lots and policing all areas for litter.
Furniture moving, working on ladders, scaffolds and other high places.
Carrying supplies up to 100 pounds.
Building security and patrol of the building and grounds.
General cleaning to include, but not limited to, clean glass and mirrors, wash furniture, clean plumbing fixtures, clean dry-ink marker boards and chalk boards, wash windows, wash walls, clean ceilings, clean vent and vent filter, trash removal, and floor care.
Other duties may be assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrated educational and/or commercial housekeeping experience preferably in a public school environment.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or GED, or other qualifications deemed acceptable by the District.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Capable of lifting and managing loads up to 100 pounds.
Capable of working from ladders at varying heights.
Capable of operating custodial floor care machinery
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Interior and exterior. Employee should be capable and prepared to work in either environment at all times.
