What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custom Cabinet Builder position at Keystone Kitchens?
Keystone Kitchens is a custom kitchen and millwork shop in Maryville, TN. We design, build, and install high-end cabinetry, built-ins, and architectural millwork for luxury homes across East Tennessee — work that gets judged by designers, architects, and discerning homeowners. Every piece leaves our shop expected to be flawless.
We're looking for an experienced Carpenter to join our shop team. This is bench work — shop-based, no field installs, no travel. You'll be building the kind of cabinetry where joints disappear, reveals are consistent to the 32nd, and the finish has to stand up under gallery lighting.
What you'll do:
- Build precision casework: cabinet boxes, face frames, doors, drawer fronts, and applied moldings from shop drawings and cut lists
- Work with premium materials — hardwoods, veneered panels, and substrates suited for stone and solid-surface tops
- Cut, mill, mortise, and assemble to tight tolerances; dial in face frames and inset doors for even reveals
- Install Blum or comparable hardware — full-extension soft-close slides, hinges, pullouts — and scribe built-ins to real-world dimensions
- Operate shop equipment (table saw, sliding saw, shaper, router, edgebander, jointer, planer) safely and accurately
- Prep for finish: sand through grits, ease edges, lay out panels that respect grain direction
- Work alongside the Production Manager, machining station, and install team to hit project milestones
- Keep your bench, tools, and work area organized — this is a professional shop, not a garage
What we're looking for:
- 2 years of cabinetmaking, finish carpentry, or high-end millwork experience preferred
- Reads shop drawings and cut lists without hand-holding
- Sharp measuring skills; comfortable with imperial fractions down to 1/32"
- Pride in tight, consistent joinery — you can tell when something's off by a hair
- Reliable and team-oriented — a high-end shop runs on tight schedules and mutual trust
- Physically able to stand all day, lift materials, and move safely around shop equipment
What we offer:
- $23–$27/hour, depending on experience
- Four 10-hour workdays — Monday–Thursday or Tuesday–Friday (3-day weekends, your pick)
- Health insurance
- Paid time off
- Performance-based bonuses tied to company results
- Steady pipeline of high-end projects
- Room to grow as the shop grows — this is a career, not a gig
