Role Description The Hospice Nursing Assistant is a full-time, on-site role that requires traveling to Winchester, IN, Portland, IN, and Alexandria, IN. This role provides direct, hands-on care to hospice patients, including assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility, and other activities of daily living. The Hospice Nursing Assistant monitors and reports changes in patient condition, supports comfort measures, and follows care plans developed by the nursing and clinical team. Daily responsibilities include maintaining a clean and safe environment, documenting care accurately, and offering emotional support to patients and their families. The role collaborates closely with nurses, social workers, and other hospice team members to ensure compassionate, dignified end-of-life care.
Qualifications
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential and foundational Nursing skills appropriate for direct patient care.
- Experience or strong interest in Hospice Care and Hospice Nursing, including working within interdisciplinary hospice teams.
- Knowledge of End-of-Life Care practices, with the ability to support patient comfort, dignity, and family needs.
- Ability to provide compassionate, respectful, and culturally sensitive care to patients and families.
- Strong communication and documentation skills, with attention to detail and follow-through on care plans.
- Reliability in an on-site setting, including the ability to work full-time schedules that may include evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, repositioning, and assisting with mobility in a safe manner.
- Previous hospice, home health, or long-term care experience is preferred but not required; willingness to learn and participate in ongoing training is essential.
