Position Description
This is a hybrid Assistant Superintendent and Assistant Project Manager role designed to develop a well-rounded builder. You will support field operations, schedule planning, coordination, and quality control while also assisting with project documentation, procurement support, and communication with the project team. You will be exposed to both field and office responsibilities with a clear path toward becoming either a Project Superintendent or Project Manager depending on your strengths and goals.
Responsibilities
· Support the Superintendent in coordinating daily field activities with trade partners and inspectors.
· Assist the Project Manager with project documentation, subcontracts, change orders, procurement tracking, and communication with subcontractors, owners and designers.
· Help maintain the project schedule including weekly and daily look-ahead planning.
· Plan and support site logistics, deliveries, manpower allocation, and work sequencing.
· Participate in maintaining jobsite safety compliance and reinforcing safety expectations.
· Review drawings and submittals to understand scope, sequencing, and upcoming work.
· Assist in identifying and resolving field coordination issues before they impact progress.
· Attend and support daily huddles, weekly coordination meetings, and toolbox talks.
· Maintain jobsite organization, cleanliness, and layout control.
· Prepare and maintain RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes and field reports.
· Coordinate inspections, testing, and SWPPP activities.
· Promote a lean approach to planning, workflow, and daily field execution.
Requirements
· 4 years of experience in construction field operations or project support roles such as assistant superintendent, foreman, field engineer, carpenter lead, or assistant project manager.
· A willingness to be flexible and work in both field and office capacities depending on project needs and phase of construction.
· Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical, plumbing, fire protection and civil drawings.
· Strong communication and team coordination skills.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Familiarity with Procore is preferred.
· Desire to grow into a leadership position in either field or project management.
· High school diploma required. Trade school, apprenticeship, or bachelor's degree preferred.
· Ability to actively work on a construction site including walking, climbing, and lifting as needed.
