Job Title: PEO Tax Specialist
Position Summary
The PEO Tax Specialist is responsible for the accurate administration, filing, and reconciliation of payroll-related taxes for clients within a Professional Employer Organization (PEO) environment. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations while supporting internal teams and clients with tax-related inquiries and issue resolution.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and file federal, state, and local payroll tax returns in a multi-state PEO environment
- Ensure timely and accurate payment of all payroll tax liabilities
- Reconcile payroll tax accounts and resolve discrepancies
- Monitor tax notices and correspondence; research and respond as needed
- Maintain compliance with IRS and state agency regulations, including PEO-specific requirements
- Support client onboarding by setting up tax accounts and verifying jurisdictional requirements
- Work closely with Payroll, Implementation, and Client Experience teams to ensure accurate tax setup and reporting
- Assist with quarterly and year-end processes, including Forms 941, 940, W-2, and state filings
- Track and apply tax rate changes, wage limits, and regulatory updates
- Maintain accurate tax records and documentation for audits and internal review
- Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 2 years of payroll tax experience, within a PEO or multi-client environment
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations
- Experience with payroll systems (Preferably PrismHR, or similar platforms)
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a PEO environment
- Knowledge of SUTA, FUTA, and multi-state taxation
- CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or FPC certification is a plus

Salary : $65,000 - $75,000
