Aquarium Maintenance Technician
This position assists in the preventative and general maintenance, inspection, and repair of all mechanical, electrical, containment systems, building, grounds, and equipment at the Key West Aquarium property.

Essential Functions
- Perform preventative maintenance, general maintenance, and inspections to ensure mechanical, electrical, containment systems, grounds, and equipment continue to run smoothly and that the physical condition does not deteriorate. This includes painting the building and equipment.
- Diagnose problems and determine how to repair them. Refer to blueprints, repair manuals, and part catalogs as necessary.
- Assemble and install mechanical, electrical, containment systems, building, facility, and grounds equipment.
- Assist the Aquarists with moving animals and the education team with loading and unloading supplies.
- Initiate, process, and review all assigned paperwork and reports promptly and accurately; assure proper approvals have been acquired.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to work independently over long periods of time within the scope of established rules and regulations.
- Ability to apply basic knowledge in multiple areas of mechanical, electrical, containment systems, building, grounds, and equipment repair.
- Working knowledge of tools equipment used in maintenance and construction.
- Knowledge of building materials and supplies
- Ability to watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly
Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Technical school graduate in related field preferred
- 1-3 years of general maintenance preferred
- Possession of certifications in basic electric or plumbing preferred.
Other Requirements
- Must pass pre-employment MVR/background check and substance abuse testing
- Valid FL Driver's License with acceptable driving record for the past three years
- Must pass annual MVR Checks.
