Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated, patient-focused pharmacist to join our retail pharmacy team. The ideal candidate is committed to providing exceptional patient care, ensuring medication safety, and delivering outstanding customer service. This position requires strong clinical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with pharmacy technicians and other healthcare professionals in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Accurately review, verify, and dispense prescription medications in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Counsel patients on medication use, potential side effects, drug interactions, and health management.
- Ensure safe and effective medication therapy while maintaining the highest standards of patient care.
- Supervise and support pharmacy technicians and other pharmacy staff.
- Monitor prescription accuracy and maintain compliance with all pharmacy laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Administer immunizations and other clinical services as permitted by state law and company policy.
- Resolve insurance and prescription-related issues while providing excellent customer service.
- Communicate effectively with physicians and other healthcare providers regarding medication therapy.
- Maintain accurate patient records and pharmacy documentation.
- Assist with inventory management, medication ordering, and controlled substance compliance.
- Promote a positive, professional, and patient-centered pharmacy environment.
- Willing and able to be part of a 4 week weekend rotation.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited school of pharmacy.
- Active and unrestricted Pharmacist license in the state of Kansas.
- Current immunization certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Strong knowledge of pharmacy law, medication therapy, and patient counseling.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Knowledge of drug regulation laws, medical terminology, healthcare compliance standards, and practicing within HIPAA guidelines is essential.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous retail pharmacy experience preferred but not required.
- Medication Therapy Management (MTM) experience is a plus.
- CPR certification is preferred.
- Experience with compounding non-sterile preparations.
- Experience working with durable medical equipment and Medicare billing.
- Proficiency with Pioneer pharmacy management software and electronic health systems is preferred.
