What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chief Executive Officer position at Key Law Office?
Key Law Office and Key Trial Lawyers are two affiliated Texas law firms with five offices across Buda, Austin, Bastrop, New Braunfels, and Victoria, serving clients in family law, estate planning, probate, personal injury, and plaintiff employment law. We are entering an ambitious growth phase and are looking for an experienced, hands-on Chief Executive Officer to lead that growth alongside our Owner and Managing Attorney.
The Opportunity
This is a rare chance to build and run the business side of an established, respected regional firm with a clear mandate: double the firm in size over the next four to five years. You will lead our Chief Operating Officer and the leads of our Intake, Billing, and Marketing departments, and own firm-wide strategy, financial performance, and operations, so our Owner can focus on legal work and professional leadership.
What You'll Do
• Own and execute a multi-year growth plan covering new offices, practice areas, and lateral hiring.
• Supervise and develop the COO and the Intake, Billing, and Marketing leads, building a real executive team.
• Manage firm-wide budgeting, financial reporting, and profitability across five offices.
• Design compensation and incentive structures that align staff performance with growth goals.
• Drive consistent systems, technology, and client experience across every office.
• Build the people, culture, and hiring infrastructure needed to scale without losing what makes the firm distinct.
What We're Looking For
• 10 years of progressive business leadership, including 5 years in an executive role with P&L ownership.
• A track record of scaling a professional services or multi-location service business, ideally through a doubling growth phase.
• Strong financial acumen and experience leading operations, sales or intake, finance, and marketing functions.
• Law firm, medical, dental, accounting, or other regulated professional practice experience is a plus, but not required.
• Comfort with a confidential, relationship-driven environment and a community-rooted brand.
Compensation
Competitive flat salary commensurate with experience, plus health coverage, retirement plan participation, PTO, and professional development support.
