Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Marion, NC for a Materials Manager. The Materials Manager will oversee and optimize inventory control, manage material flow, and coordinate production planning to ensure efficient operations. Key responsibilities include providing materials and parts for all production operations, including raw material, purchase parts, tooling, and outside services as needed for production requirements, plan current and future needs for production materials to meet our customer demand, managing materials procurement, maintaining inventory accuracy, analyzing supply chain processes, work with suppliers to control costs on purchasing materials, and liaising with production teams to meet organizational goals. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and cost-effective materials management.
Essential Job Functions
- Requests, reviews, scrutinizes, and accepts supplier quotes or proposals
. Selects sources based on analysis of cost, lead time, terms, and quality of material
- Analyze material requirements to ensure an uninterrupted flow of materials
- Ability to understand material requirements and choose correct supplier from multiple options based on price, lead tome, terms and conditions, delivery, and quality performance
- Negotiate price, delivery, and terms with suppliers to minimize cost, inventory levels, and transportation costs while supporting production demand requirements
- Develop purchasing agreements with key suppliers to ensure quality, cost, and timely receipts of materials
- Manage the inventory of raw materials, finished goods, and purchase parts
- Track inventory turns monthly and work to improve
- Utilize Lean Practices to maintain efficiency in the supply chain
- Create all outgoing PO’s and track the status of open PO’s, inform the production team of any issues
Requirements</p>
- Ability to work on-site in Marion NC
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 4 years of experience in a Materials Management Position
- Familiar with MRP systems
- Proficient in MS Excel, Word, Access, and Crystal Reports
- Previous experience in the manufacturing or gas components industry is a plus
