Part-time Accounting Assistant

We are currently hiring a Part-Time Accounting Assistant to join our team in Roland, Iowa (15 NE of Ames, Iowa). In on-site this role, you will support the Accounting Department through a variety of accounts receivable, accounts payable, treasury, reconciliation, and administrative accounting functions. This position assists with cash application, cash management activities, month-end tasks, account reconciliations, and general accounting support. The role requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently while supporting multiple members of the accounting team. this is a part-time position averaging less than 20 hours per week with flexibility during month-end, year-end, audit, and inventory periods.

This role is for you if you have:

• Previous bookkeeping, banking, accounts receivable, accounts payable, or accounting support experience with a basic understanding of accounting principles.

What you will be doing:

• Applying customer payments received through ACH, wire transfers, checks, and other payment methods. 

• Researching and resolving unapplied cash and payment discrepancies. 

• Assisting with processing, coding, and entering accounts payable transactions. 

• Matching invoices to supporting documentation. 

• Assisting with vendor statement reconciliations and follow-up. 

• Preparing bank deposits and related documentation. 

• Assisting with ACH and wire processing. 

• Supporting bank transfers and other cash management activities. 

• Tying supporting documentation to general ledger accounts. 

• Assisting with balance sheet reconciliations. 

• Researching variances and assist in resolving out-of-balance conditions. 

• Preparing recurring accounting schedules and reports. 

• Assisting with month-end close activities. 

• Supporting audit preparation and inventory-related activities. 

• Assisting with special projects and data cleanup initiatives. 

•  Providing backup support for other accounting functions as needed.
