Summary
The Food and Beverage Trainer, under the direction of the General Manager - Sault, is responsible for developing, facilitating, administering, and monitoring training courses for all Food Operations and Beverage team members at all Kewadin Casino properties. The position is responsible for providing attentive, cheerful, courteous, and professional customer service to all customers, internal and external, striving to exceed their expectations consistently.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (includes, but is not limited to, the following)
Immediate peers, peers in another department, immediate supervisor/manager, managers in other departments, executives, Board of Directors, customers, and outside vendor/service providers.
Physical Requirements
Position medium, lifting 50 pounds maximum, with frequent lifting/carrying up to 25 pounds. (is this correct as it is not marked on form. Physical factors include: constant standing, walking, pushing/pulling, use of hearing, smell, near/midrange/far vision, depth perception and color/field of vision; frequent carrying/lifting, stooping, reaching, manual handling, typing and bending and occasional sitting, climbing, kneeling and crawling. Working conditions include: constant exposure to noise and air quality; frequent exposure to extreme hot/cold and dimly lit conditions, and occasional exposure to weather, wet/humidity, and vibration. Potential hazards include: constant exposure to moving mechanical parts, electric shock, chemicals, computer use, and equipment, and occasional exposure to high-exposure places, insecticides/pesticides, and needles/syringes.
Requirements
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience: 5 years of experience working in restaurant and/or bar services required.
Certification/License: Sanitation Certificate required within 6 months of hire; training will be provided. T.I.P.'s Trainer training is required within 1 month of hire; training will be provided. Must undergo a criminal background investigation under the rules of the National Indian Gaming Commission. Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable by the Sault Tribe Insurance Department. Must comply with annual driver's license review and insurability standards with the Sault Tribe Insurance Department.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must have excellent public relations/customer service skills and exhibit a friendly and positive attitude. Must be able to use word processing, spreadsheet, and database software. Must have excellent communication skills and communicate clearly in person, in writing, by telephone, email, and with diverse audiences and settings. Must have public speaking skills. Knowledge of company policy and procedures is required. Must maintain confidentiality. Native American preferred.

- Work extensively with Food Operations and Beverage computer systems and other specialized software used by Kewadin Casinos.
- Update and monitor software guides on a regular and consistent basis.
- Maintain records, complete research, compile reports, and assist with projects and the inventory control system as assigned.
- Update and maintain the inventory control process and the POS system for all Food and Beverage locations, including assisting the Casino General Manager with updating menus, price changes, new item builds, and packages.
- Schedule and coordinate meetings, events, interviews, appointments, and/or other similar activities for Food and Beverage management at the Sault property, including coordinating travel and lodging arrangements.
- Design and develop training curriculum and materials for all training courses within the Food and Beverage Department.
- Implement and facilitate all training courses, including departmental-specific orientation, while utilizing various classroom techniques, such as teaching aids and role-play.
- Compile reports on the accuracy and quality of training by utilizing class summary forms.
- Prepare reports and analyze collected data to determine the effectiveness and efficiency of the training course.
- Maintain files, compose memos, letters, and reports.
- Provide administrative/secretarial support for the department/division, such as answering telephones, assisting visitors, and resolving and/or referring a range of administrative problems and inquiries.
- Sort, screen, review, and distribute incoming and outgoing mail; compose, prepare, or ensure timely responses to various routine written inquiries.
- Order and maintain inventory and supplies.
- Confirm payroll for Food and Beverage management.
- Maintain repair and maintenance logs of all Food and Beverage equipment.
- Assist management with the coordination and follow-up of various departmental projects.
- As assigned, write and communicate departmental operating procedures for the Food and Beverage Department.
- Conduct TIPS training for various departments as required by policy.
- All other job-related duties as assigned.
- Ensure all training programs correspond with team member related job duties.
- Ensure assigned projects are completed efficiently and accurately.
