POSITION PURPOSE:
The incumbent serves as administrative support for staff and provides clerical and administrative support by coordinating office-related activities to improve the overall operations, effectiveness, and efficiency of the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Receives orders and effectively communicates with providers and radiologist(s) to accurately determine the examination to be performed by evaluating pertinent information including clinical history, referring to providers’ order and protocol schedule.
- Ensure proper protocols are performs which includes but is not limited to; attention to quality control before documenting results in the electronic health records, EHR.
- Greetings and receives patients in a timely, appropriate patient-centered manner and carries out duties and responsibilities in accordance with radiology policies and procedures and maintains the highest standards of patient-privacy protocols.
- In accordance with pertinent policies, procedures, standards and protocols; performs procedures which includes but is not limited to: prepare room for examination; escorting patient for procedure; obtaining verbal clinical history; provide patient with changing instruction for gowning; explain procedures; answer questions; provide oral contrast or start IV as necessary and/or acquire signed consent from; properly positioning of patient and acquire prescribed images; properly print films and/or burn CD as needed; complete paperwork and scan all Tech paperwork into system; effectively communicate and reassure patient before, during and after exam(s).
- Access and review images for radiologists and quality assurance including complete anatomy coverage, patient motion or artifact presence and perform additional scans as necessary, including thin slices and post contrast. X-ray: check the hanging protocol in system and ensure related studies are loaded. Review STAT studies with Radiologist and print/download films as necessary.
- Maintains quality assurance and results by performing quality controls, verifying equipment function through routine equipment maintenance and advanced trouble shooting; calibrating equipment utilizing approved testing procedures; monitoring quality control measures and protocols.
- Actively contributes to a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, physicians and co-workers by following established standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations.
- Cleans exam room at the end of each exam as required.
- Serves as technical resource by participating in staff training; answering questions of other professionals; and advancement of radiology skills and knowledge by participating in educational opportunities which include but is not limited to mandatory in-services regarding safety, OSHA, infection control, HIPAA.
- Plans and carries out the procedures necessary to complete the work and handles problems and corrects error in accordance with established decision criteria.
- All work is reviewed prior to charting for accuracy.
- Maintains inventory control to ensure adequate supplies and equipment needed for Xray operation.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Mandatory Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Qualifications:
Effective verbal and written communication skills\
A record of satisfactory performance in all prior and current employment as evidenced by positive employment references from previous and current employers.
Familiarity with the mandatory reporting requirements under the Indian Child Protection Act, with regards to suspected incidence of child abuse or child neglect.
Demonstrated knowledge of diagnostic x-ray procedures and techniques.
Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy and physiology, preferably cross-sectional anatomy.
Working knowledge of office procedures including patient processing and scheduling as well as medical records system.
Highly proficient in the proper operation of Diagnostic X-Ray equipment.
Highly proficient in acquiring proper images for requested exams.
Highly proficient in proper techniques of CPR.
Ability to lift and move patients from transport equipment to exam table and back.
Ability to recognize pathology and bring to the physician’s attention.
Demonstrated ability to ease patients’ concerns/anxieties regarding x-ray procedures, communicate effectively and interact with patients in a highly professional manner.
Highly proficient in the understanding and application of HIPAA privacy and security standards.
Complete knowledge of Xray procedures and techniques
Ability to learn and use RIS software
Skills in acquiring proper images for requested exam
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certification in CT (Computed Tomography), or eligibility to obtain certification within a specified timeframe.
- Experience working in a professional office environment.
- Bilingual skills in English and the Keres native language.
- Prior experience working with Indian Health Services (IHS), a Tribe or Tribal Organization.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the primary functions of this job. Normal office conditions exist, and the noise level in the work environment can vary from low to moderate. In addition, the work is performed in a clinic outpatient setting and may include exposure to infection, disoriented patients, and communicable diseases. This position may be exposed to certain health risks that are inherent when working within a health center facility.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the primary functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to frequently stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, talk and hear.
Must be able to see equipment read outs and assist patients. Must be able to communicate in person, telephone and electronically.
Must be able to position patients for exams up to 75% of the time in the performance of the job. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move patients from transport equipment to exam table and back of up 250 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include reading, distance, computer, and color vision. Talking and hearing are essential to communicate with patients, vendors and staff.
MENTAL DEMANDS:
There are several deadlines associated with this position. The employee must also multi-task and interact with a wider variety of people on various and, at times, complicated issues.
