Beef Cattle and Grain Farm Worker

Kevin Nysse
Denmark, WI Temporary
POSTED ON 4/14/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 12/17/2026
The job duties on the farm are broad and intensive, especially during the busy seasons, and include preparing fields for planting; attaching and operating farm implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, harvesters, planters, seed drills, and manure spreaders; and performing all tasks related to planting, weeding, spraying, fertilizing, irrigating, and harvesting crops. Workers apply pesticides to control insects, fungi, and weeds; maintain ditches, pipes, and pumps for irrigation; and handle, load, and unload crops using conveyors, forklifts, transfer augers, manual tools, or by hand. Responsibilities also include mixing chemicals and materials, adjusting and monitoring machinery, recording agricultural data, hauling crops and supplies, and performing routine equipment maintenance and repairs. Livestock duties are equally significant and involve driving equipment to distribute feed, monitoring animal health, herding livestock, ensuring access to food and water, marking animals for ownership and grade, mixing feed and medications, administering treatments and vaccinations, arranging veterinary care, segregating animals by size or condition, rotating grazing areas, and assisting with disinfecting, spraying, bathing, or dipping animals. Additional tasks include maintaining equipment, buildings, pens, fences, yards, forestry or hunting equipment, and storage areas; climbing ladders; moving augers; installing agricultural drainage; hauling feed and grain using manual-shift non-CDL semis; retrieving parts and supplies; mowing and trimming weeds; cleaning stalls and pens; managing grain dryers; performing welding and fabrication; handling garbage, recycling, tree trimming, and firewood preparation; pumping liquid manure; removing rocks from fields; maintaining gravel lanes; clearing snow; and loading and unloading cattle. Because the scope of work is extensive and shifts throughout the year, additional labor is needed during the Spring, Summer, and Fall, while a smaller workforce can manage lighter duties during the winter months as the farm prepares for the next growing season. The employer, at its sole discretion, may grant pay increases based on factors such as performance, longevity, and/or experience. Employer may also, at its sole discretion, offer performance-based incentive bonuses that are not guaranteed and are determined by the employer. Workers returning for a consecutive season will be paid at the previous season’s rate if that rate exceeds the current published rate.
