What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adjunct Instructor of American History position at Keuka College?
The Division of Humanities and Fine Arts at Keuka College is seeking adjunct instructors to teach American history courses as part of the College’s Compass Curriculum and the Political Science and History major to cover a temporary vacancy in the Spring 2026 semester. We are looking for enthusiastic educators who value teaching and enjoy working closely with an undergraduate student body.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach American history courses including U.S. History from 1877, America in the Founding Era, and History of New York State.
- Design and deliver course instruction based on the approved syllabus and learning objectives.
- Assess student progress through essays, exams, and projects.
- Foster a positive learning environment and engage students actively.
- Hold regular office hours for one-on-one student support.
- Collaborate with the Chair of Humanities and Fine Arts to ensure program quality.
- Contribute to program assessment of student learning outcomes.
- Maintain professionalism by being punctual, responsive, and accountable in all aspects of teaching.
Physical Requirements:
- Occasional evening hours/weekends.
- Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Master’s degree in History or related field required; doctorate preferred
- Demonstrated excellence in college teaching
- Demonstrated proficiency using computer applications, online resources, and other technologies for the classroom
