Position Overview

Responsible for coaching student-athletes in competition strategies and techniques, preparing them for athletic events, and motivating them to build a lifelong appreciation for the sport.


Coaching & Instruction

  • Holds organizational meetings for prospective athletes and encourages participation in the program.
  • Assesses athlete skills, assigns team positions, and determines game strategies based on team capabilities.
  • Develops regular practice schedules and structures training time for individual and team skill development.
  • Instructs athletes individually and in groups regarding rules, regulations, safety protocols, equipment handling, and shooting techniques.
  • Observes athletes during practices and competitions to evaluate needs for skill improvement.
  • Assigns duties to assistant coaches as needed.
  • Student Safety, Conduct & Compliance
  • Establishes standards for student behavior and maintains direct supervision of athletes at all times.
  • Follows state, regional, and district regulations governing high school athletic programs.
  • Models sportsmanship, nondiscriminatory practices, and appropriate conduct toward athletes, officials, and spectators.
  • Monitors team academic performance to ensure eligibility requirements are met and encourages high academic standards.
  • Executes established safety and emergency protocols in the event of an athlete injury.

Administration & Operations

  • Collaborates with the Athletic Director to schedule practice and competition facilities.
  • Maintains eligibility forms, emergency data cards, insurance records, equipment inventories, and administrative documentation.
  • Oversees the care, maintenance, requisition, inventory, and storage of equipment, supplies, and uniforms.
  • Coordinates with the Athletic Director to set award policies and submit end-of-season award recipients.

Community & Parent Engagement

  • Communicates with parents/guardians regarding student athletic performance and program expectations.
  • Serves as a primary team representative, promoting the program to news media, booster clubs, and local community organizations.
  • Participates in team events, including parent nights, banquets, award ceremonies, and pep assemblies.


REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Successful candidates must be available for all practices and competitions during the coaching season. Experience with trap at some level is preferred, but not required. Additionally, candidates must satisfactorily complete a criminal background check and must possess or obtain prior to the start of their season current First Aid and CPR certification.

WAGE RANGE - From $4,823 to $5,895. Documented paid coaching experience from public and private schools (middle school, high school, or collegiate level), in and out of state, will be used in determining salary schedule placement.

Employees who are not also employed in other positions with the District will accrue 1 hour of sick leave for every 40 hours worked. Employees who are not also employed in other benefit-qualifying positions with the District and who work 630 hours within a school year will become benefit eligible for the remainder of the school year. Standard benefits include, Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance and Long-Term Disability. Verification of identity and United States work authorization must be completed before employment commences. The successful candidate for this position must be fingerprinted. Employment is contingent upon clearance by the Washington State Patrol and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
